RULES FOR RUBBISH SERVICE
- CAN ALLOWANCE: Customers are allowed up to 90-gallons of rubbish per pickup. That equals
either THREE 30-gallon or TWO 45-gallon cans. Do not use the 50-gallon sized cans please! Extra charges may be added if a customer averages more than 90 gallons of rubbish per pickup during a calendar month. Please see the RATES & FEES section of our website for more information.
- CAN LOCATION: Rubbish needs to be placed CURBSIDE in an accessible place for our drivers, so
that the truck can pull up next to your rubbish for loading. We prefer NOT to come onto your premises for fear of taking something you DON'T want to be thrown away. Your cans cannot block mailboxes - as ordered by the postmaster - and must be separated from your neighbor's trash cans. We are not responsible for items left next to garbage cans, including your recycling! Once it goes inside the rubbish truck, it's gone forever!
- BAGGING YOUR TRASH: ALL RUBBISH MUST BE IN SEALED PLASTIC BAGS OR BOXES! LOOSE
PAPER AND DEBRIS WILL FLY AWAY THE MINUTE YOUR CAN IS OPENED AND WE WILL LEAVE IT BEHIND. We also ask you to place any bags containing food or food wrappers inside a trash can, so that the mongooses, cats and dogs won't rip them open.
- HEAVY CANS: Keep in mind that the drivers have to lift the cans over their heads to empty them into
the truck. Please don't overfill your can or cart! Heavy cans (weighing over 60 pounds) will be left behind. Also, if the bag is so heavy that it starts to rip when the driver pulls it out, the bag will be left behind. We do not want to litter your neighborhood. You must either re-bag the trash or be there to help load the bag into the truck.
- SERVICE TIMES: Pickup times can vary from week to week. For best results, please have your
rubbish out at 7 AM. We do not start service earlier than 7 AM. For more information, call our office at 329-3440.
- MISSED PICKUPS: If your trash got missed, please call our office (329-3440). Before you call, make
sure to check your cans first! Also, if you see the truck pass your house, please be aware that the driver might have to empty his truck or that he starts at one end of the street and works his way back to you. But if the other houses on your street have been picked up and your trash is still there, then call our office.
- THE DRIVERS: If you need to speak directly to the driver, please be aware that they cannot hear you
over the noises from the truck. Unless you are in their line of vision they don't know you are there! Also, do not ask your driver questions about your bill. These must be handled through our office.
- HOLIDAYS: Our drivers work all holidays - including Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. So please put
your trash out on your scheduled day. We will be there!
- RECYCLING: We do not handle the transportation of recycling. For information on were to take
your recycling, please call Recycle Hawaii at 329-2886, Atlas Recycling at 329-6868, or the Recycling Specialists with the Department of Environmental Management at 961-8527 or 961-8549
